Your Role on the Team
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Review and resolve billing edit errors prior to claim submission to ensure clean, accurate claims and timely reimbursement.
- Collect on insurance accounts by working assigned accounts receivable worklists, aging reports, and correspondence.
- Analyze patient accounts to determine appropriate billing or collection actions in compliance with payer guidelines.
- Communicate with payors and internal stakeholders to resolve billing and collection issues efficiently.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
- Experience with professional fee medical billing, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Workers’ Compensation, and commercial insurance plans.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English.
- Ability to analyze accounts, manage workload effectively, and meet monthly productivity standards.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and maintain effective working relationships across a healthcare system.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Preferred:
- Experience with patient registration and authorization processes.
- Proficiency using payor websites for claim status review and collections follow-up.
- Experience with Epic Billing or similar medical billing systems.
- Background in professional fee medical collections within a healthcare or academic medical setting.
