$27.42/hr to $29.55/hr

POSITION (Title): Casual Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT)

DEPARTMENT/SERVICE AREA: Sterile Processing

REPORTS TO (Title): Director, Nursing

The Sterile Processing & Distribution department has an opening for a Part-Time Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) at LaVerendrye General Hospital. Additional training can be arranged, if requested. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:


QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

  • Secondary School diploma (Grade 12) or education acceptable to the Employer;
  • Certificate from a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Course or successful completion within six months of hire;
  • Two years’ experience in Medical Device Reprocessing or related experience;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control practices, asepsis or sterile technique;
  • Must be able to function under stress, prioritize tasks and adjust to fluctuations in work volumes with low error rate;
  • Ability to work with cleaning agents and germicides;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to encourage teamwork;
  • Lift supplies, instrument trays weighing up to 30 lbs;
  • Ability to push/pull heavy loads: autoclave/delivery carts 150-300 lbs;
  • Manual dexterity in handling complex surgical instruments;
  • Concentrated effort, attention to details;
  • Maintenance of Central Service Association of Ontario yearly membership;
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights and weekends;
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management;
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;
  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.


BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To process sterile supplies, linens, instrumentation and procedure trays sufficient to meet the needs of our clients.


CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:

  • This position may be required to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
