Position Title: Medical Radiation Technologist (Radiography)
Site: La Verendrye General Hospital
Department: Diagnostic Imaging
Employment Type: Casual/Part-time
Salary: $36.90/hr to $49.01/hr
Reports To: Director, Diagnostic Services
Job SummaryReporting to the Director, the Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) in Diagnostic Imaging performs medical imaging procedures to aid in patient diagnosis or treatment within the regulatory standards of practice. Delivery of patient care and professional practice is consistent with the scope of practice of the MRT as defined by the College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO), the Philosophy and Values of the Hospital and the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
Qualifications- Registered MRT (R), CMRITO/C.A.M.R.T
- CT experience or willing to be trained
- Proficient in computer database applications, e.g., HIS/RIS, PACS
- Professional attitude and conduct towards patients and staff
- Familiar with Occupational Health & Safety workers’ rights and responsibilities
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front-line personnel, and management
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills, including multitasking and prioritizing workload
- Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record
- Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis
- Performs high quality diagnostic images
- Adheres to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle
- Uses available equipment while incorporating policies and best practices in radiology to perform exams and documentation
- Must be available for a regular rotation of on-call and weekends and provide coverage for vacation, sick leave, etc.
- Willingness to travel between RHC sites as required
- Works independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information and hospital business
- Perform radiographic examinations using both stationary and portable equipment in all patient care areas of the hospital
- Perform examinations in areas of specialization including mammography, special procedures, and CT
- After sufficient training, commence duties in these areas of specialization, reporting to the Manager and Radiologist for quality of work performed
- Maintain quality control and quality management of work, reporting to the Manager
- Report equipment malfunction immediately to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging
- Replenish x-ray and CT rooms with appropriate supplies
- Assist with portering patients and ultrasound procedures when able
- Perform all work assignments safely and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act)
- Participate in quality management and quality control programs as required
- Assume responsibilities of a particular area within the department as requested
- Other duties as designated from time to time by the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging
