Description
Kahana Feld LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Finance Analyst on the accounting and finance team, delivering financial insight, performance measurement, pricing analysis, and decision support across the firm. This role supports core FP&A responsibilities, including monthly reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, along with financial, pricing, and case-level analysis within an insurance defense law firm environment.
This is a hands-on, data-driven role ideal for a finance professional who enjoys building models, analyzing performance, and translating financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Firm-Wide FP&A & Executive Reporting
- Support monthly financial reporting and variance analysis, providing insights to the controller, CFO, COO, and leadership team.
- Assist with rolling forecasts and the annual budgeting process, incorporating operational and financial assumptions.
- Build and maintain financial models to support revenue, expense, margin, cash flow, and pricing analysis.
- Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentation materials for leadership, strategy meetings, and strategic discussions.
Performance, Profitability, Pricing & Case Analytics
- Analyze firm-wide financial performance and help identify key drivers of profitability.
- Facility and lead the weekly and monthly productivity reporting for attorneys and paralegals against goals and benchmarks, including adjustments and special considerations.
- Closely coordinate with and guide cross-departmental data analysts to achieve the firm’s goals.
- Support case-level profitability analysis, including cost per case, expected vs. realized recoveries, and margin analysis.
- Assist with pricing analysis related to contingency fee structures, referral arrangements, and alternative fee scenarios, evaluating financial impact and risk.
- Model pricing and rate sensitivity and recovery scenarios to support decision-making and growth strategies.
- Track case aging, duration, and pipeline trends to evaluate impacts on revenue timing and cash flow.
Data, Systems & Reporting
- Derive value and synthesize data from multiple sources, such as the accounting and billing system, case management systems, and HR platforms to support performance and analysis.
- Help maintain data accuracy and consistency across financial and operational reporting.
- Contribute to improving dashboards, reporting processes, and analytical tools.
- Support reporting enhancements and automation initiatives.
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with Firm Leaders, Accounting, Legal Departments, Legal Operations, People Operations, Conflicts, Intake, Marketing, IT, Recruiting, Workplace Experience, Paralegals, and other key leadership teams to gather data and align reporting and financial assumptions.
- Provide analytical support for ad hoc projects related to growth initiatives,pricing strategies, resource allocation, and operational improvements.
Governance & Confidentiality
- Handle confidential financial, pricing, and client-related information with professionalism and discretion.
- Support compliance with firm policies, internal controls, and governance standard sin planning and reporting processes.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+years of experience in FP&A, finance, accounting, or analytics.
- Experience supporting monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating profitability and key performance drivers.
- Experience with Aderant or similar ERP systems a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with BI or data visualization tools is a plus.
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
