Benefits Analyst

FTS in collaboration with a nationally recognized consulting firm is seeking a Benefits Analyst to support complex, self-funded employer health plans. This is a high-visibility, analytics-driven role partnering closely with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver strategic insights to clients. If you understand claims data beyond the surface — and can translate it into a roadmap for benefit design — this role is built for you.

* CANDIDATES MUST RESIDE IN CALIFORNIA AND BE IN COMMUTABLE DISTANCE TO IRVINE, CA AREA FOR 2-3 DAYS IN OFFICE REQUIRED*

• Build financial models for renewals, projections, and funding rates
• Evaluate stop-loss exposure, large claimants, and trend assumptions
• Develop client-ready financial reports and exhibits
• Identify cost drivers and strategic opportunities
• Partner with consulting teams to influence plan design decisions

• Claims-level data analysis (medical + pharmacy)
• Loss ratio & trend assumption modeling
• Large claimant pooling & shock claim analysis
• You’ll build financial projections, assess volatility risk, and support strategic plan design recommendations for mid-market and large employers.

• 2–6 years in self-funded benefits analytics, underwriting, actuarial support, or TPA analytics
• Advanced Excel (macros/modeling strongly preferred)
• Experience presenting financial exhibits to consultants or clients
• This is ideal for someone who enjoys the quantitative side of healthcare finance but wants more visibility and impact than a back-office actuarial track.
