Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Tax Manager to join our Irvine office. This role requires a seasoned tax professional with a minimum of 10 years of public accounting experience and an active CPA license. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong client advisory skills, and proven leadership in managing complex portfolios and staff. This position will play a key role in transitioning an existing book of business and supporting ongoing firm growth and integration across offices.
Responsibilities- Technical and Client Engagement:
Manage and review complex tax returns, including individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and multi-state filings; provide advanced tax planning, consulting, and technical research for high-net-worth individuals and business clients; serve as the primary advisor for assigned clients, delivering proactive guidance and long-term tax strategy; support the transition and onboarding of existing client relationships as part of leadership succession planning.
- Lead engagement teams and oversee workflow, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple offices.
- Mentor, train, and supervise staff and senior accountants; assist in performance feedback and development.
- Develop and refine workflow procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Collaborate with partners on operational improvements, staffing needs, and process standardization.
- Assist with IRS and state tax notices, audits, and sensitive client matters.
- Support business development efforts through advisory opportunities, client expansions, and referrals.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold firm quality standards.
- Minimum of 10 years of public accounting experience in tax.
- Extensive technical expertise in federal, California, and multi-state tax matters.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including staff management and workflow oversight.
- Strong analytical, communication, and client management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with Lacerte, Practice CS, and document/workflow systems preferred.
- Position based in the Irvine office.
- Full-time role with required availability during standard business hours.
- Extended hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required during peak filing periods (January–April and September–October).
- Hybrid scheduling may be considered depending on qualifications and firm needs.
Salary Range (Irvine, CA):
DOE (expect $150-$220K range), based on experience, technical depth, and leadership capability.
