Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant - Online Marketplace/Investment Firm - 100% remote

A leading digital investment firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Senior Accountant will own the monthly close process while working closely with the lending and leadership team. You will play a key role in building out the finance backbone for a rapidly growing investment marketplace, accelerating the close and give leadershi clear real-time visibility.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close and deliver first-pass financials within five business days
• Run core reconciliations: cash and custodial wallets, payouts, payment processors, AR, AP, accruals, fixed assets, and key balance sheet accounts
• Maintain revenue and COGS recognition across auctions, fixed price, and lending in line with policy, including fees, refunds, and principal vs. agent considerations
• Own spend management: corporate cards and AP, vendor onboarding and master data, invoice routing and approvals, expense policy, receipt compliance, and month-end accruals
• Present to leadership weekly with concise commentary and trend charts; deliver a month-end Leadership Pack with P&L, balance sheet, cash, and flux analysis
• Be the primary liaison to tax accountants and auditors: own audit and tax calendars, walkthroughs, sample requests, and timely responses
• Maintain accounting policies, close checklists, reconciliations, and an approvals matrix; strengthen controls and documentation

Requirements

• Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Public accounting foundation preferred but not required.
• 3+ years of corporate accounting experience, ideally in a startup environment and/or online trading platform (Robinhood, Coinbase, etc.)
• Hands-on ownership of monthly close in a lean environment; strong US GAAP knowledge
• Reconciliation expertise: cash, wallets, payouts, processors, AR, AP, accruals, and reserves
• Spend management experience with Ramp or similar tools for cards and AP
• Highly proficienct with Quick Books and Excel
• Familiarity with Stripe, banking portals;

  Ramp
