PositionSummary
The Sr. Underwriter is responsible for underwriting DSCR, Bank Statement, Asset Utilization, P&L, and Full Doc transactions. This role involves evaluating loan applications, making credit decisions, and working with loan officers, brokers, and internal operations staff to make solid credit decisions and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. The Sr. Non‑QM Underwriter ensures that loan decisions are made in compliance with internal policies and guidelines, agency guidelines, and regulatory standards while mitigating risk and optimizing the borrower’s experience.
Responsibilities- Underwrite Non‑QM loans
- Review multiple product types: DSCR, Bank Statement, Asset Utilization, Foreign National, P&L, 1099 loans.
- Perform Bank Statement calculation (manual and automated)
- Maintain company SLA (service level agreements)
- Communicate with Mortgage Loan Originators, Brokers, and Operations staff to ensure high level of customer service
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Maintain acceptable QC rating with minimal findings
- Complete tasks assigned by management
- 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience with at least 2–3 years in Non‑QM lending
- Strong knowledge of all Non‑QM products
- Proficient with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and multiple LOS (Blue Sage preferred)
- Ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment with high volume
- Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities
- Proficient in mortgage lending software and underwriting platforms
- Thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Fully remote or in‑office/hybrid schedule available.
Pay DisclosureThe starting base salary pay range for this position is $95,000 – $115,000. The actual base is dependent on many factors such as experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
