Mortgage Credit Manager – Kind Lending

We are seeking an experienced credit risk leader to manage credit policy, oversee underwriting, and drive the performance of our diverse mortgage portfolio.

• Lead credit risk management for Agency, Government (FHA/VA/USDA), Bond, Jumbo, and specialty products, ensuring consistent, compliant credit decisions.
• Establish and enforce credit policies, guidelines, and overlays aligned with investor/agency requirements and regulatory standards.
• Supervise, coach, and develop the specialty underwriting/credit team, providing second‑level reviews and serving as the final escalation point for credit policy interpretations.
• Maintain and update credit policy documentation, decision criteria, and training materials while partnering with Compliance and Quality Control to address audit findings and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Production, Operations, Risk, and Secondary Marketing to balance credit quality with growth goals, delivering expert credit guidance and training internal partners.
• Produce and present regular credit risk reports and key performance indicators to senior leadership, leveraging data to identify trends and drive continuous improvements in credit decisioning.

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of mortgage underwriting experience with broad exposure to Conventional, Government, Jumbo, and Specialty products.
• 5+ years of management or leadership experience in credit or underwriting preferred.
• Strong understanding of mortgage credit risk principles, documentation, income/asset evaluation, and collateral assessment.
• In‑depth familiarity with investor/agency guidelines, secondary market execution, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, decision‑making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, rapidly scaling environment.

The starting base salary range for this position is $125,000 annually. Base pay is dependent on many factors such as work experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
