Director of Accounting - Tier-1 Real Estate firm in Orange County

A Tier-1 commercial real estate firm is seeking an Accounting Manager or Director of Accounting to oversee their GL and financial reporting team. Reporting directly up into the Corporate Controller, this role will help ensure compliance with GAAP, financial reporting and oversee some payroll functions. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage cash flow, prepare financial reports, and lead a team of talented accounting professionals.

• Manage the overall accounting functions including financial reporting, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations while maintaining accurate financial records.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee budget preparation and forecasting processes to support organizational goals.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to ensure integrity of financial data.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide insights on financial performance and assist in strategic planning.
• Train and mentor accounting staff to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to best practices.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA a plus but not required.
• Public accounting background a plus, not required
• Thrives in a fast-paced corporate accounting department, with proven ability to lead
• Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and technical accounting principles.
• Highly proficient with Excel and large ERP systems (SAP)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Compensation: $225,000 per year
