Akkodis is seeking an Research Development Design Engineer for a 12-month contract role based in Irvine, CA
. This is a 100% onsite position supporting Medical manufacturing devices.
To be considered, candidates must have strong experience in NPD, Product Development, Medical devices experience, PLC and CAD.
Pay Range: $40/hr – $45/hr on W2. (The pay rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)
Education Requirement- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electromechanical Engineering
- 5–8 years of experience
- Background in New Product Development (NPD)
- Experience in Medical Device industry preferred
- Design & development of electro‑mechanical systems and components
- Mechanical and electrical system integration
- Experience with stepper motors, drivers, sensors, PLC programming
- Strong hands‑on design experience in NPD
- Experience with automation, robotics, or precision instruments (preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Solid Works / CAD software
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, Medical Device Regulations (MDD/MDR)
- Knowledge of DOE (Design of Experiments) and statistical analysis (preferred)
- Good knowledge of computer tools (MS Office, Project, Excel, etc.)
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Design and develop equipment related to new product development
- Improve and optimize manufacturing processes
- Implement process and tool automation
- Prepare and manage engineering specifications
- Support purchasing and design of equipment meeting safety and environmental standards
- Execute product/process validation activities
- Supervise and guide a small group of technicians (if required)
- Communicate business‑related technical updates to management
- Perform additional duties as assigned
