Overview

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the electrical design and verification of space-based sensing payloads. This role sits at the intersection of multiple engineering disciplines and is responsible for ensuring reliable power, data, and avionics integration from concept through flight readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement payload-level electrical systems, including power distribution, avionics connectivity, and data interfaces
  • Establish and manage electrical interfaces between payload hardware and the spacecraft platform
  • Plan and execute electrical integration and verification activities across all test phases, including environmental testing
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, RF, software, and systems teams to resolve design challenges and ensure end-to-end compatibility
  • Support engineering trade studies involving power, thermal margins, and pointing or stability constraints
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues during build, integration, and test campaigns
  • Produce clear technical artifacts such as schematics, interface definitions, and design reviews
Required Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Significant experience (7+ years) designing and integrating electrical systems for spacecraft or similarly complex platforms
  • Hands-on expertise with spacecraft power architectures, avionics interfaces, and harness design
  • Experience supporting system integration, verification, and environmental test programs
  • Working knowledge of how electrical design decisions affect system performance and operational constraints
  • Prior ownership of interface documentation and hardware-to-platform integration
  • US citizen & eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance
Nice to Have
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience supporting imaging, sensing, or intelligence-focused payloads
  • Background in embedded electronics, FPGA-based systems, or custom avionics hardware
  • Familiarity with test automation, design-for-test strategies, or production-oriented design
  • Experience contributing to system architecture trades or scaling hardware designs for production
