Job Title: Algorithm Engineer

Job Number: 37288

Location: 8845 Irvine Center Dr, Irvine, CA 92618

Job Description

Lead a team of 4–5 algorithm engineers and data scientists to design and advance algorithms for cuffless home blood pressure monitoring, targeting regulatory clearance. This role blends strategic technical leadership with hands‑on work in physiological time‑series analysis. You will partner closely with engineering and clinical groups on data collection, experimental design, and integration of analytics into the product pipeline, and contribute to product lifecycle planning.

Reporting to the CTO, you will help drive key regulatory and clinical milestones.

Responsibilities Technical and Algorithm Development
  • Architect and guide development of cardiovascular monitoring algorithms for cuffless home blood pressure measurement in hypertensive patient populations
  • Advance physiology‑informed and ML‑enhanced methods for hemodynamic signal processing across multimodal biosensors
  • Maintain algorithm infrastructure (version control, testing frameworks, design control documentation)
  • Build and optimize real‑time algorithms for cloud‑based deployment
Regulatory and Clinical
  • Support regulatory submissions, including pre‑submission interactions, documentation preparation, and coordination of biostatistics support
  • Collaborate on clinical study design for algorithm development, verification, and validation
  • Partner with external clinical investigators, key opinion leaders, and research institutions
  • Establish and sustain design control records, post‑market surveillance protocols, risk management files, and related quality documentation
Team Management
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of 4–5 data scientists and algorithm engineers
  • Work cross‑functionally with hardware, software, clinical, quality/regulatory, and commercial teams
  • Evaluate and adopt tools, methods, and technologies that improve team efficiency and outcomes
  • Define KPIs and metrics to quantify algorithm impact on product performance and patient outcomes
  • Communicate complex technical and physiological concepts to varied stakeholders
  • Contribute to intellectual property generation and peer‑reviewed publications
Required Skills
  • Experience deploying FDA‑cleared algorithms and conducting real‑world evidence analyses
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular pathophysiology
  • Experience with ECG, PPG, accelerometry, impedance, and related physiological signals
  • Strong foundation in statistical methods, predictive modeling, and experimental design
  • Advanced proficiency in Python/scientific stack and statistical algorithm development
  • Machine learning expertise (Tensor Flow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn) focused on physiological time‑series
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., S3, EC2, Sage Maker)
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and scale algorithm teams within a collaborative, high‑performance culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Strategic mindset to identify unmet needs, propose data‑driven solutions, and deliver outcomes
  • Ability to balance near‑term priorities with long‑range initiatives aligned to company goals
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Ph.D. in engineering (electrical, biomedical, mechanical), physics, computer science, or related field
  • 4+ years in medical device algorithm development focused on cardiovascular applications
  • Track record of successful 510(k) clearances for algorithmic devices or SaMD
  • Deep familiarity with FDA guidance, design controls (21 CFR Part 820), and quality systems (ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
  • Experience in time‑series analysis and digital signal processing of physiological signals
  • Experience with optical sensing/biophotonics a plus
  • Proven experience designing and executing clinical studies for medical devices
  • Excellent communication skills translating between technical and business stakeholders
  • Peer‑reviewed publications in cardiovascular monitoring or medical device development
  • Patent portfolio in relevant areas (biosensors, signal processing, cardiovascular monitoring)
  • Curiosity and drive to learn emerging technologies and thrive in collaborative settings
COMPENSATION

$175,000–$ annually (guideline range). Final base salary considers role scope, location, and the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and market conditions.

  • Competitive equity in a high‑growth medical device organization
  • Comprehensive employer‑paid health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Remote work flexibility with periodic travel
  • Opportunity to create meaningful impact on cardiovascular health in hypertension
