Digital Design Engineer – AI Hardware (Hybrid, Irvine, CA)

$160k base + 10% bonus + RSUs

Edison Smart is partnered with a semiconductor company developing advanced AI hardware is seeking a Digital Design Engineer to join its Hardware Development team. This role involves owning digital modules from product specification through microarchitecture, RTL implementation, verification, and tape-out or FPGA release.

• Translate product requirements into scalable microarchitectures
• Design and implement embedded CPUs (RISC-V preferred) in host or co-processor roles
• Support FPGA bring-up and system-level validation
• Perform RTL and gate-level simulation
• Contribute to verification planning and documentation

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of digital logic design experience
• Experience with embedded MPU design (RISC-V strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of modern compute architectures
• Familiarity with AXI/AHB/APB and SoC components (SRAM-based systems)
• Experience with SPI, I2C, PCIe, USB, DDR is a plus
• Python or shell scripting skills preferred
• Experience with industry-standard simulation and debug tools (e.g., VCS, Verdi)
