About the Opportunity

Saratech is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to carry out engineering assignments involving the planning, design, and testing of mechanical equipment, systems, and processes. This role requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams and provides support to senior engineers on projects of medium complexity. The ideal candidate brings solid mechanical fundamentals, hands‑on experience, and the ability to contribute effectively in a defense or aerospace engineering environment.

This is a full‑time position or part‑time leading to full‑time position located in Irvine, CA.

Salary Range
  • Pay Grade 49
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) from an accredited four‑year college or university
  • Two to five years of experience in the design, analysis, and development of industrial equipment
  • US Citizenship Required
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical equipment, systems, and processes to meet program requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate design performance and suitability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the assembly, repair, and testing of environmental control systems
  • Under general supervision, execute assignments involving responsibility for a secondary project or a portion of a major project
  • Support higher‑level engineers on medium‑complexity projects and assist with more complex assignments as needed
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to junior engineers, designers, and drafters
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across other functional teams
  • Prepare technical documentation and written reports as required
  • Present designs and technical information to peers, engineers, and customers
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of applied thermodynamics and mechanical design principles
  • Familiarity with drawing and drafting standards
  • Experience carrying out engineering assignments involving mechanical equipment and systems
  • Defense or aerospace industry experience preferred
  • Experience in the development of thermal systems is a strong plus
  • Exposure to electrical circuits and control theory is a plus
  • Understanding of military specifications, environmental specifications, and test specifications preferred
  • Hands‑on testing and hardware experience required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective technical presentations to customers
