About The Role:
Design the power systems that will drive the energy transition. We’re seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and implementation of advanced clean energy solutions from utility-scale solar PV and battery storage to EV charging infrastructure and microgrids. This role will take ownership of the full engineering lifecycle, shaping grid-interconnected solutions and delivering high-impact projects that power communities, schools, and businesses with sustainable energy.

- Lead design of solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, and off-grid microgrid systems.
- Develop full construction drawing sets (single-line and three-line diagrams) in compliance with NEC, IEEE, and utility interconnection standards.
- Conduct interconnection studies, prepare applications, and create dynamic system models.
- Perform power system studies, including load flow, arc flash, short circuit, harmonic analysis, and protective device coordination.
- Conduct site visits to assess infrastructure and determine optimal equipment placement.
- Manage vendor relationships and integrate innovative distributed energy resources (DERs).
- Collaborate with clients, utilities, and contractors to resolve design issues and RFIs.
- Write clear technical reports and proposals, simplifying complex energy solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety codes, jurisdictional, and utility requirements.
- California PE License (highly preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in power distribution, utility interconnection, or DER systems
- Expertise in solar PV, energy storage, EV infrastructure, and/or microgrids
- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and utility interconnection procedures
- Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or similar tools for modeling and power studies
- Experience with BOMs, equipment specifications, and routing plans
- Strong balance of technical depth with big-picture problem solving
- Excellent communication skills to engage clients, regulators, and cross-functional teams
