Position OverviewWe are seeking a reliable Field Technician/Inspector to support Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System (VIMS) projects throughout Southern California. This hands‑on role involves environmental sampling, system inspections, field documentation, and report preparation. You will work directly with experienced environmental professionals while gaining expertise in critical environmental compliance work.
Location: Irvine, CA (Southern California)
Employment Type: Full‑Time
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt (Hourly)
Reports To: Operations Manager
What You Will Do- Perform environmental field sampling including soil gas, indoor air, sub‑slab, and ambient air following established protocols
- Conduct VIMS inspections during construction, operation & maintenance, and long‑term monitoring phases
- Install, operate, and maintain field monitoring equipment (PID meters, pressure gauges, data loggers)
- Complete detailed field notes, chain‑of‑custody forms, and sampling documentation
- Support system performance testing and diagnostic evaluations
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, subcontractors, and site personnel
- Assist with report preparation including data summaries, inspection findings, and photo documentation
- Follow all health & safety protocols and participate in safety training
- Travel to local and regional job sites as required
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in environmental fieldwork, construction inspection, or related technical work
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or Associate degree preferred)
- Ability to read and follow technical procedures, work orders, and field protocols
- Proficiency with tablets, phones, and basic Microsoft Office/Google Suite
- Valid driver license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in outdoor environments
- Experience working on commercial and residential construction sites
- Strong understanding of environmental sampling procedures
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain)
- Familiarity with construction drawings, environmental compliance, or field instrumentation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Reliability and accountability in field conditions
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Problem‑solving and technical troubleshooting skills
- Professional demeanor with clients and site contacts
