This hybrid role supports our environmental investigation and remediation practice across California and may expand nationally. The position involves drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D and conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs). Training for Phase I ESA work can be provided.

Position Summary

The Entry‑Level CADD Operator / Phase I ESA Specialist supports senior geologists, scientists, and engineers by preparing technical drawings and assisting with environmental site assessments in accordance with current ASTM standards. The role involves office‑based technical work and field activities, including site visits throughout California.

Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) per ASTM standards.
  • Perform site visits at subject properties throughout California, documenting with notes and photographs.
  • Create figures, drawings, and plans using CADD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Assist with data evaluation and preparation of technical reports.
  • Support environmental investigation and remediation projects.
  • Maintain organization while managing multiple assignments.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and senior technical staff.
  • Adapt to a variety of tasks in a dynamic consulting environment.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledge.
  • Work safely and report health and safety incidents.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of directly relevant experience (1 year of environmental consulting experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D (2025).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and no restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Phase I ESAs.
  • Familiarity with ASTM environmental standards.
  • Experience supporting environmental investigation or remediation projects.
  • Interest in a long‑term career in environmental consulting.
Physical Requirements
  • Perform site visits at active or undeveloped properties.
  • Walk, stand, bend, navigate uneven terrain during fieldwork.
  • Lift and carry light equipment up to approximately 25 lbs.
  • Take detailed field notes and photographs during site visits.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
  • Combination of office, remote, and field‑based work.
  • Travel throughout California, potential for overnight stays.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions during site visits.
  • Visit industrial, commercial, and undeveloped properties.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements and PPE usage.
Additional Information
  • Completion of 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER training (provided as needed), annual 8‑hour refreshers, First Aid/CPR training, and participation in medical monitoring programs.

Compensation

Pay commensurate with experience. Pay range: $75,000–$90,000 yearly.
