Building Technology Systems - Senior Consultant
WSP USA Buildings, Inc., an award‑winning and innovative multi‑disciplinary engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Building Technology Systems Senior Consultant specializing in structured cabling systems, security, audiovisual, code required communications, and school technology systems for the K‑12 and higher education market. The role supports large, complex projects worldwide with a focus on sustainability and energy performance.
About The JobOur staff work on high‑quality, high‑profile local, national, and international projects. You will actively participate in the complete project cycle—from design phase through final construction close‑out—communicating and coordinating technical topics with owners, architects, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Your ImpactResponsibilities Include
- Provide designs for telecommunications systems (structured cabling, telecom spaces, pathway infrastructure) and electronic safety & security systems (IP video surveillance, access control, intercom).
- Design audiovisual and school bell/intercom systems, and code‑required communications systems.
- Coordinate with clients to gather and document system and design requirements.
- Create design narratives and coordinated construction documents (drawings and CSI specifications).
- Budget fee responsibility on assigned projects.
- Manage project resources to complete deliverables, including technical staff and drawing production staff.
- Coordinate, host, and participate in project meetings (local and out‑of‑town) with the design team and clients.
- Participate in construction meetings, review and respond to technology system submittals and RFIs.
- Perform site surveys to document construction progress.
- Coordinate integration of security and telecommunications systems with other intelligent building systems (BMS, lighting control, AV, etc.).
- Apply understanding of local and national codes and industry standards (NEC, IBC, NFPA, BICSI, EIA/TIA).
- Participate in business and client relationship development and in preparing proposals and fees under supervision of a lead.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a four‑year degree (B.S. in engineering preferred) or an equivalent combination of technical training and related work experience designing technology systems for buildings.
- Five to seven years of experience actively designing high‑end security and telecommunications systems for the AEC consulting and engineering industry, or managing the installation and programming of noted systems.
- Design experience for systems on projects of various types and sizes, both new construction and renovation.
- Design experience related to DAS, data networks, Wi‑Fi, and telephony is a plus but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on organizing and presenting design information to clients.
- Revit experience desired.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Comfortable working directly with clients including architects and building owners.
- Industry certification (ASIS CPP, BICSI RCDD, AVIXA CTS/-D, Cisco CCNA, etc.) is a plus, although not required.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $103,000 – $142,000. The range reflects the company’s best estimate based on the applicant’s qualifications and geographic location.
