Design Engineer (Environmental Remediation) – Mid‑Level – Hybrid – West Coast, United States
Base pay range: $97,700.00/yr – $/yr
Jacobs is seeking a mid‑level design engineer with a broad background in environmental site remediation for federal and global private sector clients. Based on the West Coast, you will work with scientists, engineers, subject‑matter experts, and project managers on projects nationwide. You will contribute to the design of environmental remedial actions and/or remediation systems, evaluate site conditions, and support data collection both in the office and on the field.
Responsibilities- Evaluate site conditions, determine data needs, and assess remedial alternatives.
- Perform engineering calculations and develop design documents, including design specifications.
- Prepare work plans, reports, and design documents; maintain technical writing quality.
- Mentor junior staff and share knowledge with teammates.
- Support and oversee gathering of design data in the field when required.
- Maintain Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
- Knowledge and experience with environmental remediation technologies, systems, or remedial actions.
- Minimum 7 years of on‑the‑job experience in the environmental remediation industry, with demonstrable project examples.
- Minimum 4 years of experience designing environmental remedial actions or remediation systems, with demonstrable project examples.
- Experience writing specifications, preparing basis of design reports, and developing design drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work remotely with teams nationwide.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or the ability to obtain it.
- Experience with construction or operation of environmental remediation systems or remedial actions.
- Experience leading environmental field work and overseeing subcontractors/third‑party contractors.
- 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
- Strong organizational skills and documentation of design decisions and action items.
