Compensation- $35.00 – $45.00 per hour

At Turion Space, we’re building spacecraft to secure Earth and expand humanity’s reach beyond it. As a Senior Assembly Integration and Test (AIT) Technician you will be an integral member of the Manufacturing team, you will build and qualify our satellites for launch. You’ll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver flight hardware that is robust, reliable, and ready for space.
This position is based on-site, at our Irvine, California headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Space Vehicle Assembly & Integration: Assemble space vehicles and their associated modules including payloads, guidance, communication, power, and propulsion systems, ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, and electronic subsystems are correctly integrated per applicable technical documentation and process requirements.
- Testing: Execute mechanical, electrical, and electronic system and subsystem level qualification, acceptance, and verification tests, performed under simulated operational conditions, in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams. Conduct testing on prototype hardware independently, with limited guidance from engineering staff. Testing shall include functional, environmental, and vibration response.
- Quality Assurance: Rigorously enforce quality standards to ensure product meets or exceeds all safety and performance criteria and record all pertinent data. Maintain and assist in the configuration of new product workcells, toolrooms, and prototyping areas. Support incoming part inspection, cleaning and kitting functions.
- Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to resolve production issues, including equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and quality deviations.
- Collaboration: Work with design engineers early in the development process to provide feedback on manufacturability of designs and ease of assembly.
- Documentation: Prepare, review and annotate work instructions & procedures in compliance with company and industry standards. Maintain detailed records of assembly and testing processes in partnership with the quality, engineering, and inventory control teams.
- Space Vehicle Delivery & Transportation Support: Participate in transport of space vehicles and integration with launch vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicable associate degree or trade school certificate
- 5+ years of experience assembling and testing complex electro-mechanical equipment in a manufacturing setting
- Experience reading and following mechanical designs, blueprints, bill of materials, assembly procedures or other work instructions
- Demonstrated experience proactively communicating production issues
- Ability and willingness to sometimes work weekend and evenings as needed to achieve launch target goals
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on compliance and safety
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret or TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace industry experience
- Cleanroom and ESD sensitive component experience is highly desirable
- Precision measuring instrument and machining processes familiarity
- AS9100 quality system familiarity
- Vibration table, thermal vacuum chamber or related test equipment familiarity
- Proven ability to document and present technical information clearly
Senior AIT Technician: $35/hr - $45/hr USD.
