Join Rivian's Seat & Restraints team within Interior Engineering, where you'll directly contribute to the development of innovative and impactful products from concept through volume production. You'll play a crucial role in creating high‑performing and sustainable solutions, fostering a culture of trust and continuous improvement within our collaborative Interior Engineering environment.
Responsibilities- Design and develop safety restraint components such as airbags, seat belts, steering wheels, and occupant sensors for Rivian vehicles, guiding them from concept through production.
- Utilize Catia V6 / 3D Experience to develop concept models, update and manage restraint component CAD data.
- Create 2D drawings and 3D studies within Catia V6.
- Collaborate closely with Vehicle Safety, Interior, Body Structures, Studio, and Perceived Quality to achieve design targets.
- Engage cross‑functionally to ensure seamless collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders, aligning efforts with broader company goals and driving success in your area of responsibility.
- Develop the engineering bill of materials (BOM) and execute change management processes using Enovia as the part management tool.
- Participate in the design and development of DFMEAs with the cross‑functional team, cascading dependencies to relevant partners; support the creation of Product Validation plans, coordinate validation activities, and sign off validation results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2‑3+ years of engineering experience in the automotive sector (or equivalent relevant experience) in safety restraints, including design of individual components.
- Able to effectively utilize Catia V5/V6 for 2D sketching, 3D modeling, and part workbench applications.
- Able to apply an understanding of various manufacturing processes (sheet metal forming, injection molding, assembly, and tooling) to design and development.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage engineering first principles for effective problem identification and resolution.
- Able to clearly articulate complex technical information to diverse audiences, both verbally and in written form.
- Eagerness to learn and collaborate cross‑functionally in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support vehicle launch activities.
Salary Range for Irvine‑Based Applicants: $85,600‑$107,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law).
BenefitsRivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full‑time and part‑time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full‑time employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part‑time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
