We are currently seeking a Senior Managing Engineer with expertise in ADAS and/or AVs for our Vehicle Engineering Practice in multiple U.S. locations, including Phoenix, AZ;
Natick, MA;
Atlanta, GA;
Farmington Hills, MI;
Menlo Park, CA;
Irvine, CA; and Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will work as part of a team executing consulting projects that involve the analysis and testing of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS); automated vehicles; vehicle, engine, and component performance; federal emissions and fuel economy testing; mechanical failures; safety assessments; federal and state regulations; and the design of consumer and industrial products.
You will ultimately have the opportunity to develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent.
- Managing projects from initiation to completion; communicating project updates to team members, clients, and administrative staff; ensuring Exponent meets deadlines and produces exceptional work; identifying business development opportunities.
- Developing and managing client relationships.
- Project and cost management on casework.
- Setting up and executing various test programs including full‑scale vehicle tests and component or control systems evaluations.
- Continuing to develop specialized expertise in the automotive field such as the design, performance, and testing of existing or emerging automotive technology.
- Managing, mentoring, and providing consulting work for junior consulting staff.
- Developing and growing the Vehicle Engineering Practice.
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of work experience in ADAS, autonomous vehicles (AVs), and/or vehicle safety, vehicle and automotive system design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required.
- Ability to generate business and manage client relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interact with managers, engineers, non‑technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible manner.
- Strong leadership and communication skills and experience mentoring junior staff.
- Field and/or lab measurement experience with good hands‑on skills.
- Versatile, team‑oriented, willing to work overtime and travel when required.
