At the UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing and Simulation Center, we are dedicated to educating nursing professionals who elevate patient care and advance community and population health locally and globally. Our mission is to develop leaders in research, education, and clinical practice who champion compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based nursing. Guided by a strong commitment to inclusive excellence, we prepare nurse scholars who push the boundaries of science to inform and improve practice.

We also train future educators and policy specialists equipped to meet the needs of California's and the nation's growing, aging, and increasingly diverse populations. The Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing offers a full range of academic programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science, Master of Science in Nursing Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing Science.

The Nursing Simulation Center is an integral component of the school's educational mission, serving as a simulated clinical environment where learners can safely develop and refine their skills, techniques, and clinical decision-making throughout their academic journey.

Responsibilities

Applies acquired skills and knowledge of processes, policies, and procedures to support professional health education programs and learners. Coordinates operational aspects of the programs, including curriculum implementation, learner scheduling, database management, compliance tracking, and accreditation support. This position reports to the Accreditation and Operations Manager, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Simulation Center Director. The role supports the simulation, technical, and instructional activities of the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, as well as community outreach and relationship-building initiatives.

The incumbent is responsible for the technical operations and instructional support of the Simulation Center, utilizing a diverse skill set in clinical practice, computer systems, and simulation technology. Core responsibilities include planning, setup, operation, and teardown of clinical simulation activities and workshops; ensuring compliance with established best practices, standards, and regulations; and conducting routine maintenance and repair of simulation equipment, partial task trainers, and audiovisual systems.

Additionally, this position serves as a technical instructor for simulation equipment and workshop presentations and assists in delivering tours, outreach events, and demonstrations for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

Required:

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

* Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment or technology issues promptly.

* Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment; able to work evenings and weekends as required.

* Strong verbal, written, and active listening communication skills. Service-oriented and responsive to questions and requests, with a professional and courteous demeanor.

* Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship-building skills with faculty, staff, and learners.

* Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills with strong attention to detail. Able to coordinate complex faculty schedules and maintain precise documentation.

* General knowledge of educational technology and learning management systems; competence in triaging technical issues.

* Ability to obtain Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification within 24 months of hire.

* Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

Preferred:

* Operational knowledge of Laerdal Sim Capture platform.

* Working knowledge of Laerdal simulator systems, including Sim Pad.

* General knowledge of adult learning theory and educational best practices.

* Current CHSOS certification.

* Previous experience working with healthcare simulation.
