Salary range: A reasonable estimate for this position is $2,100-$3,500, based on the specific number of courses assigned and enrollment numbers.

Position description

The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) at UC is a self-supporting unit funded through student fees. Part-time instructor positions are contracted per course and are not faculty roles.

Online teaching positions are available for the Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program. We seek qualified applicants with current industry knowledge and/or teaching experience to create engaging online learning environments, including asynchronous and synchronous instruction. Course topics include principles of consulting, financial aid, college admissions, developing a consulting business, practicum, working with diverse students, marketing, counseling techniques, and international student consulting.

Instructor duties
  • Develop and update syllabi with the Academic Director or Program Manager.
  • Prepare and deliver online course materials and assessments.
  • Use Canvas for asynchronous and Zoom for synchronous instruction.
  • Communicate objectives, outline grading policies, evaluate student achievement, and post grades.
  • Respond to student inquiries promptly and handle administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Employ culturally competent teaching methods and update course materials regularly.

Our curriculum is continuously updated to ensure relevance and practical application. This is an ongoing recruitment, accepting applications year-round for courses starting as early as Summer 2025.

Qualifications

Basic: Master's degree or higher, extensive industry experience, proficiency or willingness to learn instructional technology.

Additional: Current knowledge, effective communication, professional participation, and experience with independent consulting or online teaching are preferred.
