Under general direction, performs professional level analysis and administration of the Authority’s risk management and insurance programs; reviews, analyzes, and develops recommendations for the Authority’s position on complex insurance, claims, and litigated matters related to general liability programs and activities; collaborates with the third‑party administrator in the administration of general liability claims and activities; serves as a professional level resource to the Risk Manager and other Authority management;
and performs related duties, as assigned.
Receives general direction from the Risk Manager. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.
Class CharacteristicsThis is a specialized professional classification performing the full range of risk management analysis assignments. Incumbents at this level perform routine to complex professional duties in support of the Authority’s general liability programs, insurance contract programs, processes, and systems including responsible and difficult claims analysis and the development of sound recommendations related to litigated matters. Considerable independent judgment is used to make decisions in carrying out assignments.

Risk Management Analyst
- Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in risk management, public or business administration, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration of risk management activities including some experience in a public agency setting.
- Experience in the oversight and administration of general liability programs and activities.
- Experience developing risk mitigation plans and implementing mitigation efforts.
- Experience reviewing and implementing insurance contracts and vendor agreements to ensure they meet the requirements of the agency insurance carrier and agency risk management needs.
- Experience investigating and reviewing claims to evaluate potential agency liability and settlement possibilities.
- Experience coordinating litigation and assisting legal counsel in litigated claims.
- Possession of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Certification.
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License is required at time of appointment. This classification is subject to enrollment in the California DMV Pull Notice Program, which periodically provides Risk Management with the incumbent's Driver License record and status.
