SummaryThe Manager – Inland Procurement position is responsible for developing procurement strategies and managing projects related to Inland/Domestic transportation and international freight forwarding. The role leads daily operations support in developing strategic sources and distribution of goods and services, implements department objectives, drives cost savings, and leads interdepartmental projects. Duties include facilitating cross‑functional vendor management processes, analyzing cost data, developing negotiation opportunities, and establishing performance goals and KPIs to enable continuous improvement.
CompensationRange
$101,000 – $113,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)
Responsibilities- Manage current supply base and develop/mature future supply base for all domestic transportation and warehousing & distribution.
- Develop and implement strategies for procurement and distribution of goods or services.
- Implement changes and develop processes to improve procurement, increase cost efficiencies, set policies, and align guidelines across all departments.
- Negotiate with vendors/suppliers to secure advantageous terms, finalize contract terms, and forecast budgets.
- Identify areas to reduce cost and achieve financial goals.
- Manage projects related to cost optimization, including volume discounts and competitive pressure, prepare and analyze bids and RFx for all goods and services, and draft related documents.
- Gather and prepare documents such as quotes, proposals, and purchase terms and conditions from suppliers.
- Ensure alignment between strategic procurement initiatives across all GUS operations and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to drive efficiency and reduce costs.
- Perform risk management and evaluations for all suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide regular procurement reports and updates.
- Ensure compliance with policies, ethics, and goals in vendor engagement.
- Maximize the use of ERP tools to analyze trends and maintain a steady flow of the supply chain.
- Negotiate vendor contracts, understand price points, negotiate effectively, and create constructive vendor relationships.
- Provide controls, oversight, and audit functions over supplier performance.
- Liaise with leadership regarding current supply base needs and serve as an escalation point for contractual issues.
- Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business.
