DESCRIPTION

This classification is scheduled to receive the following Base Salary Adjustment:

2.54% effective May 1, 2026

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) is recruiting to establish an eligibility list for future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for the position of Senior Administrative Assistant that may be used for departments including Automotive, Business Services, Emergency Medical Services, Community Risk Reduction, Human Resources, Investigation Services, Property Management, Operations, Purchasing, and Service Center.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, performs advanced and specialized clerical work of above average difficulty and complexity in areas such as personnel, inspections, budgeting, and payroll; and performs related work as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

The Senior Administrative Assistant is the advanced, journey level classification in the office support class series. Positions in this class must meet specific criteria for allocation to this class and are not flexibly allocated with other classes in the series. Incumbents perform difficult and specialized clerical duties. Incumbents are expected to apply above-average initiative and independent judgment to perform and coordinate specialized office procedures that are unique to an assigned division or program.

Employees at this level compile a variety of data, maintain logs/records, and prepare reports; process a variety of information and enter in a database; and assist members of the staff and the public.

This class is distinguished from the Executive Assistant in that the latter is responsible for providing highly complex administrative support to designated management-level staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

EDUCATION (position requirements at time of application):

* High School Diploma, or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

EXPERIENCE (position requirements at time of application):

* Minimum of three (3) years of general clerical or office support experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
