Role on the Team

The Development Coordinator position is an entry-level/early career fundraising role where training and mentoring will be provided to ensure the success of an individual. The incumbent is a motivated individual willing to partner with major gift officers, faculty, staff and clinicians in priority areas of UCI Health and College of Health Sciences to create opportunities for alumni, patients and friends to express their support and gratitude to elevate patient care, research and education.

Under the supervision of the Director of Development, Health Advancement, the Development Coordinator engages in annual giving-level fundraising activity and provides project management and administrative support to an assigned set of major gift officers in Health Advancement. The scope of responsibilities includes: donor engagement, meeting metrics, development and coordination of fundraising programs, development of collateral material, presentations, newsletters, stewardship, and coordination of leadership meetings.

The incumbent performs coordination of complex duties that engage with confidential and sensitive information of a broad scope related to donor relations, annual and major gift fundraising, and public relations.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Interest in learning and growing in a fundraising environment.
  • Skill to use a personal computer and computer software programs at the level of sophistication required for the development office. Proven ability to use MS Office programs, donor management databases, and familiarity with the Internet to conduct searches.
  • Skill to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven level of outstanding professionalism in providing high-level coordination for assigned gift officers, including: scheduling meetings, liaison with faculty and staff, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the campus and/or medical center and with external constituencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of records management including the proven ability to develop and maintain a system to track and update a variety of information including an accurate detailed calendar.
  • Ability to be flexible in working independently as well as collaboratively with Advancement, faculty and staff to achieve defined goals. Use initiative to organize and follow through with complex tasks to meet deadlines.
