This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing complex financial reporting, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial operations while also mentoring and supporting a Staff Accountant.
What You'll Do
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Manage the month-end close process and prepare accrual-based financial statements
- Review and distribute monthly financial reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Analyze property-related financial transactions for accuracy and compliance
- Track financial obligations including loan payments, taxes, and insurance deadlines
- Prepare and post recurring and accrual journal entries
- Review rent rolls and gross potential rent reports
- Monitor accounts payable aging reports and reimbursements
- Review lender statements and monitor reserve balances
- Prepare annual filings and compliance reporting for applicable agencies
- Work closely with property managers, asset managers, lenders, and auditors
- Respond to lender requests related to annual reviews, escrow analysis, and reporting
- Support documentation requests for financial and compliance reviews
- Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
- Respond to CPA audit inquiries and record adjusting journal entries as needed
- Supervise and mentor a Staff Accountant
- Help organize workflow, priorities, and productivity
- Bachelor's degree required (Accounting preferred)
- 3+ years supervising accounting staff
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Property management or real estate accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software preferred
- Strong proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- $90,000 - $95,000 salary (DOE)
