Our client, a rapidly growing and innovation?driven organization based in Irvine, CA, is seeking an AR Accountant to join their dynamic Accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with both government and commercial contract billing. The AR Accountant will play a key role in billing, reconciliation, reporting, collections, and compliance—ensuring accuracy, organization, and exceptional communication across teams.
Responsibilities- Prepare, process, and submit invoices through government portals and other customer-specific methods.
- Maintain detailed billing schedules and forecasts to ensure timely invoicing across all contracts.
- Develop and manage AR aging reports; investigate, analyze, escalate, and resolve past-due accounts.
- Reconcile AR ledger accounts and prepare monthly financial statements and reports.
- Lead cash collection forecasting and assist with ad hoc billing/collections reporting.
- Assist with month-end close activities and reconciliations.
- Streamline government accounting processes for travel and expense compliance.
- Review project-related expenses to ensure accuracy and adherence to government accounting guidelines.
- Participate in government audits and maintain thorough accountability documentation.
- Prepare reports related to allowable and unallowable spend for internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and accurately code invoices in alignment with company accounting practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience with government accounting (FAR Part 31).
- 6+ years of accounts receivable experience.
- Working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
- Experience with Oracle Fusion or similar financial systems.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, queries/macros).
- Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in all work.
- Strong communication and cross-department collaboration skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export-controlled information.
