Job Purpose
Under general supervision, the Staff Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely general ledger postings and reconciliations and assists in the day-to-day activities of accounting operations in accordance with the company's policies and procedures. This position reports to the VP Accounting Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform daily cash reconciliations.
- Prepare journal entries; maintain, balance, and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts for selected asset and accrual accounts.
- Prepare daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations.
- Support preparation of various analytical reports and information.
- Perform various day-to-day accounting activities and control functions dealing with fixed assets, prepaid expenses, BOLI, general ledger, correspondent bank accounts and miscellaneous accounts.
- Assist in the day-to-day activities of the accounts payable function.
- Assist in the day-to-day activities of the payroll function.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting as needed.
- Assist with auditors/examiners requests on year-end audit, internal audits, and periodic examinations.
- Provide back-up for accounting staff.
- Responsible for any additional duties or projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 1 year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in MS Office products, specifically Excel, and accounting software programs. FIS, Avid Xchange (Bank Tel) and Balancer experience is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- High level of initiative, organized with keen attention to detail.
- Problem solving mindset.
- Able to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to work with team members across the organization.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, occasionally lift one to fifteen pounds.
- Working Conditions are in office.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Must complete all required mandatory and regulatory training.
