Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

* Monitor, collect, update, analyze, summarize, and evaluate cost-related information.

* Develop and maintain cost models for pricing and profitability analysis.

* Conduct Work-in-Progress (WIP) Analysis to monitor and evaluate costs associated with unfinished goods, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead to WIP inventory.

* Perform Purchase Price Variance (PPV) Analysis to assess and explain the differences between actual and standard purchase costs, identifying reasons for variances and recommending corrective actions.

* Maintain sub-ledger activities, including inventory, work-in-progress (WIP), and bills of materials (BOMs).

* Partner with Warehouse/Inventory Control on cycle counts and physical inventories.

* Work with Supply Chain to reduce aged and obsolete inventory.

* Analyze and maintain inventory valuation and cost fluctuations.

* Review monthly inventory details to identify excess/obsolete items and record related journal entries (e.g., maintaining E&O reserve).

* Compile, analyze, and communicate monthly scrap and shrinkage results by plant, identifying areas for scrap reduction.

* Assist with the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy in system-generated transactions and manual entries.

* Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close.

* Assist in preparing month-end and year-end reports, including inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and cost of goods sold analysis.

* Provide full support during company financial audits and respond to internal/external audit requests.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, etc.) to address issues and optimize processes.
Additional Responsibilities

* Perform various ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

* 5+ years of job-related work experience.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, SUMIF) and financial reporting tools.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

* Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
