An exciting opportunity has arisen for a service manager within Foxgrove NSAIS based at Ayrshire Central Hospital. Foxgrove is the National Secure Adolescent Inpatient Service (NSAIS) providing a 12 bedded specialist clinical service for all of the territorial Health Boards of NHS Scotland. It provides a secure clinical environment comparable to Regional adult medium secure in-patient mental health facilities. It aims to develop and deliver a highly specialist, evidence based service, incorporating a multi-agency/disciplinary assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children and young people aged 12 years to 18th birthday who pose a risk to others and are subject to mental health legislation.

Foxgrove will provide: multi-disciplinary and multi-agency care, treatment and assessment; a focus on safety, security and rehabilitation; advice and clinical direction to partner health authorities prior to referral, throughout admission, in the planning of discharge and in the immediate discharge phase of the young person; a service that promotes innovation in practice, excellence in care delivery and investment in staff to ensure a workforce which challenges and addresses health inequalities whilst promoting health improvement;

a service focused upon the needs of the young people in its care, mindful of neurodiversity and the individual needs of the young person’s aspirations and expectations; a trauma-informed approach to care and treatments; promotion of recovery and stigma reduction; empowerment of young people with a rights-based approach to care and meaningful participation; and communication and coordination with all statutory and non-statutory services involved in the care and treatment of the young people residing within the facility.

What you will do

An exciting role within a highly specialist team. The Foxgrove Service Manager is responsible for providing effective day to day operational management to all staff working within Foxgrove. The role leads and supports the interface between the nursing, allied health, security, psychological therapies, medical and other staff disciplines to support full integration of the multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams. Responsibility is also given to ensure that the clinical contribution to service delivery is of the highest quality and enhances the patient experience through the provision of safe, effective, efficient, timely, equitable and person-centred care.

You should be aware that this is a new service which will evolve over time and therefore you should be equipped with refined leadership and management skills which will not only allow you to take pre-existing staff colleagues with you but recruit and retain new ones into the service.

Highly developed communication skills are essential as is experience in leading and managing highly functioning multi-disciplinary services or teams.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

Nursing qualification (RMN) is essential.
