Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy connecting with people? If so, Northwestern Mutual seeks a Financial Services Associate to join their investment team in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

This role is a great fit for people who enjoy helping others and keeping details in order. We’ve found that individuals with backgrounds as school employees, bank tellers, office administrators, customer service representatives, and healthcare office staff have all thrived in this position.

In this role, you’ll play an important part in helping our clients feel confident and supported in their financial journey. Each day will bring a mix of responsibilities—you might be opening new accounts, setting up contributions, processing distributions, or placing trades under our direction. Your work ensures that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, while your warm and professional manner reassures clients over the phone and in person.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • $35,000 - $45,000 annual stating pay based on experience.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with 3% matching company contribution.
  • Paid vacation and paid sick time.
  • Enjoy the privacy of your own office—this is not a front desk or receptionist role.
  • Full-time Monday-Friday in-office position working 8am – 5pm. Schedule flexibility available. We believe in a family-first environment—your kids’ sports games, school events, and family commitments come first, always. We support one another both at work and outside of it, creating a culture where you can succeed professionally without sacrificing what matters most.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Open new client accounts and ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Process contributions, distributions, and other account transactions.
  • Place investment trades under the guidance of our advisors.
  • Communicate with clients over the phone and in person, providing a positive and professional experience.
  • Help maintain accurate client records and keep our systems up-to-date.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Basic understanding of investment products, retirement accounts, and contribution rules is helpful, but not required. If you’re comfortable working with financial accounts and learning investment processes, we will provide all the training needed for you to be successful.
  • Experience in finance, office administration, or client services is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work under direction while managing multiple tasks.
  • Professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude.

ARE YOU READY to join a team that values great customer service and a job well done?
