Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry (ASNM) is seeking a Financial Development Professional

We invite experienced financial development professionals to consider joining our team and contributing to our mission of providing homes for adults with special needs.

The desired candidate will have proven expertise in donor development. This includes cultivating partnerships, forming lucrative donor channels, and executing a variety of fundraising strategies including major gifts, grants, planned giving campaigns, and other special events. Verifiable success in capturing five to seven figure gifts is a plus.

Also required is demonstrated achievement in the development field as well as working with outside provider agencies such as capital campaign strategists or advertising agencies. A comprehensive understanding of marketing and advertising methods and their application to non‑profits is also required.

The successful candidate will also have an integral role in board member relations, strategic plan development, and executive level leadership.

About Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry

For more than 20 years, ASNM has provided homes for adults with special needs. Started in 2003 as an agency of the United Methodist Church, ASNM currently operates four, six‑bed homes in Florence, Orangeburg, and Columbia. A board of trustees governs ASNM. We have the capacity, desire, and infrastructure to grow.

Position Summary and Overview

The development executive will be a member of the senior leadership team reporting directly to the Executive Director with frequent interaction with the board of trustees. The successful candidate will lead financial development and have a role in the legislative advocacy while also supervising marketing efforts, communications, and public relations.

The person must represent ASNM effectively in the community, build relationships, and work collaboratively in all settings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiate and direct all areas of development including prospect identification and cultivation, solicitation, strategies, grants, donor stewardship, database management and outreach activities. The candidate will be proficient in developing individual donor partners in addition to corporations and foundations.
  • Increase existing revenue streams and create new revenue sources while remaining attentive to budgets.
  • Candidate must have exceptional writing skills, capable of creating quality correspondences, meaningful collateral, news releases, and more.
  • Ensure that the organization is always represented positively and favorably. Build and maintain good relationships with media and other communication partners. Must be an accomplished public speaker, willing to address any audience of any size while always presenting themselves with poise, self-confidence, and in appropriate attire.
  • Initiate and direct marketing efforts such as advertising, public relations, external communications, branding, and community events. Provider supervision and oversight for all marketing efforts. Work collaboratively with vendors, department, and partners.
  • Serve as an advocate for the organization and all adults with special needs in the community with business and corporate partners, local leaders, and others.
  • Build relationships that closely link ASNM to the community while promoting greater awareness of ASNM’s existence, our services, values, mission, and vision.
  • Develop and maintain effective methods of communication with stakeholders, designing regular, consequential interactions both within and outside ASNM. Coordinate media and legislative interests in the organization and ensure regular contact with target audiences.
  • Engage external stakeholders and support signature events that elevate the mission and build brand recognition.
