Finance Officer – Accounts Payable

The City of Iqaluit is looking for a skilled and experienced individual to join our growing team and city as the Finance Officer – Accounts Payable.

Under the direction of the Director, the Finance Officer – Accounts Payable is responsible for the financial, administrative and clerical duties related to the efficient processing of accounts payable transactions for the City of Iqaluit. This role will work with the finance team to ensure the organization’s expenditures are accurate and accounting practices are standardized across the organization.

• Responsible for the efficient processing of accounts payable transactions.
• Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile accounts payable ledgers.
• Collaborate with departments to gather supporting documentation and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with municipal policies, procedures and statutory regulations.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and analysis related to payable activities.
• Support audits and external reviews.

• Minimum Level of
  
  Education:
  
  Grade 12 Diploma; 1‑2 year Diploma or Certificate in Finance or Accounting.
• Minimum Level of
  
  Experience:
  
  Minimum of 3 years of experience in computerized accounting and accounts payable.
• Assessment: Enrolment in a recognized accounting association;
  Ability to communicate in one or more of Nunavut’s official languages.

Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary: $77,162.74 per annum (35 hour/week)
Settlement Allowance: $20,907.43 per annum.
Union Status: Unionized.
Housing: No Staff Housing Available.

Aucun logement pour le personnel Sous la direction du Directeur, l’Agent responsable des finances – Comptes fournisseurs est responsable des fonctions financières, administratives et cléricales liées au traitement efficace des transactions concernant les comptes fournisseurs pour la ville d’Iqaluit. La personne dans ce rôle travaillera de concert avec l’équipe des finances pour s’assurer que notre organisme et nos pratiques comptables sont normalisés à l’échelle de l’organisme.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES Niveau minimal d’éducation/de formation :
Diplôme de la 12e année, Diplôme ou certificat de 1 à 2 ans en finance ou comptabilité Niveau minimal d’expérience :
Un minimum de 3 ans d’expérience en comptabilité et comptes fournisseurs sur ordinateur. ATOUTS Inscrit auprès d’une association de comptables reconnue ;
Habileté à communiquer dans l’une ou plusieurs des langues officielles du Nunavut. Une combinaison jugée acceptable d’études et d’expérience pourrait être prise en compte.
