Transport Planner
Spider is advertising on behalf of our client who are recruiting a Transport Planner to join their team in Felixstowe, Suffolk in this full‑time, permanent position.

The Transport Planner will be responsible for coordinating container transport operations from the ports of Port of Felixstowe and London Gateway Port. You will manage allocated vehicles and drivers to ensure efficient operations, strong service levels and maximum revenue while resolving any day‑to‑day operational challenges. This is a fast‑paced role requiring strong organisation and communication skills to maintain high standards of service.
Working hours are 45 hours per week Monday to Friday, with weekend on‑call support as required.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan transport operations from Felixstowe and London Gateway on allocated traffic sheets
- Manage allocated trucks to ensure revenue targets and service levels are met
- Maintain strong communication and working relationships with drivers
- Manage and resolve daily operational issues efficiently
- Book and manage Vehicle Booking System (VBS) slots accurately
- Monitor schedules to ensure deliveries and collections meet deadlines
- Maintain accurate records using internal systems
As a Transport Planner, you will have experience working within the haulage, container or logistics industry and be comfortable operating in a busy traffic planning environment. Knowledge of port operations, VBS systems and TOPS (or similar planning systems) would be advantageous. You will have excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure. Strong communication skills, good IT ability and a proactive, motivated approach will help you succeed in this role.
