Job Title: Family Support Officer
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time - Hybrid working
Location: Ipswich, IP3
Hours: 40 hours per week — 8:30am to 5:00pm (8:00am to 4:30pm Fridays), 39 weeks term time + 3 additional weeks
About the RoleEleven 11 Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for a compassionate, organised and proactive Family Support Officer to join their education and support services. This is a varied and rewarding role working closely with families, education staff and external professionals to support children and young people to engage in education, overcome barriers to learning and access appropriate services. You will act as a key point of contact for families, offering guidance, reassurance and practical support, while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes for children and young people.

- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, including KCSIE
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of GDPR and confidentiality requirements
- Ability to use Windows-based IT systems and case management systems
- Willingness to travel as required
- Experience in a family support or family liaison role
- Experience with in the UK education system
- Experience as a DSL or DDSL with relevant training
- Experience using safeguarding systems such as My Concern
- Warm, friendly and approachable
- Calm, positive and resilient under pressure
- Proactive, resourceful and able to use initiative
- Flexible and adaptable
- Highly organised with strong diary and time management skills
- Support families to understand and engage with education provision, including SEND processes and expectations
- Act as a key point of contact for families, ensuring timely, clear and supportive communication
- Provide information, guidance and signposting to education, health and social care services
- Work collaboratively with education staff to support pupil engagement and family involvement
- Liaise with external professionals to ensure coordinated and appropriate support
- Visit families across multiple local authorities as part of the role
This role includes a combination of office-based work and visits to families across multiple local authorities.
