Bristow Holland is working with a growing business in Ipswich that is looking for an experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join their Technology Team.

In this key role, you’ll act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, ensuring IT systems remain secure, stable, and high-performing. You’ll be involved in troubleshooting critical incidents, supporting IT projects, and helping to strengthen the overall IT infrastructure while providing support to colleagues across the business.

Based at their modern office with hybrid working options, you’ll collaborate closely with Service Desk, 2nd Line teams, and project stakeholders to ensure technology runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

* Act as the technical escalation point for complex IT incidents and system issues.

* Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.

* Maintain and optimise IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, and security systems.

* Monitor system performance and proactively improve reliability and resilience.

* Provide specialist technical input on IT projects and new technology initiatives.

* Work alongside Service Desk and 2nd Line teams to share knowledge and enhance team capability.

* Ensure timely resolution of escalated tickets and adherence to service level agreements.

* Develop and maintain technical documentation, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

* Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

Essential:

* Proven experience supporting IT at 2nd/3rd line level.

* Strong technical expertise in servers, networking, infrastructure, and security.

* Solid understanding of cyber security principles and best practices.

* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.

* Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

* Flexibility to support out-of-hours incidents on a rota basis.

Desirable:

* Experience with SaaS, cloud services, or hosted environments.

* Familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as Power Shell, SQL, or Linux.

Technical

Skills:

* Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, Windows Server

* Virtualisation, SAN, enterprise backup

* Patch management, software deployment

* DNS, routing, VPN, endpoint protection, next-generation firewalls, email security
