Role Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated paediatric ward team leader to join Raedwald Day Surgery Unit based at Ipswich Hospital. This Band 6 role requires a leader who is motivated to develop themselves in a supportive environment, driving improvements in care while supporting junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide clinically effective, high quality, individualized peri‑operative patient care working within the multi‑disciplinary team. Your day‑to‑day duties include:

  • Deliver patient care through the peri‑operative pathway, including patient escort, anaesthetic care, scrubbing for surgical procedures, post‑anaesthetic recovery, ward and nurse‑led discharge.
  • Promote a safe and attractive working environment conducive to learning.
  • Contribute to the continuing development of peri‑operative and professional practice, ensuring practice is evidence based.
  • Support the integration of clinical governance in all aspects of patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to achieve the learning outcomes of departmental programmes, trust, and unit competencies.
Qualifications

• Passion for paediatric nursing and commitment to patient‑centred care.

• Strong leadership and team‑development skills.

• Experience in a peri‑operative or day‑surgery environment preferred.
