About the Role
Felixstowe Road Medical Practice is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is offered on a part-time basis for 10 hours per week (ideally looking for 10 hours over 1 day however, will consider an extra half or full day for the right candidate.)
Main duties of the role:- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately.
- Venepuncture, phlebotomy checks.
- Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
- Update patient health records.
- Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
- Act as a chaperone where required.
- Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
- New patient health checks.

About the CandidateAll applicants should have the following skills and qualifications:
Qualifications and experience - these are a requirement to be considered for the role:- Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC.
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
- Strong clinical skills including venepuncture/phlebotomy preferred but not essential.
- Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidential manner with a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, determining own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
We are a friendly GP practice situated over the East side of Ipswich. Our aim is to provide high quality, patient-centred care, adhering to a traditional model of general practice, whilst recognising the need to evolve and respond to the new challenges in health and social care. We have just over 10,200 patients supported by a team of 7 GPs, 4 practice nurses and 2 healthcare assistants alongside various PCN staff that are working for the practice.
We are also a training practice and currently have 2 GP registrars training with us.
