Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Pre-Operative Assessment Unit at Ipswich Hospital. We are looking for a nurse with previous surgical experience.

Our nurse-led team delivers pre-operative assessment to patients who will be undergoing a range of procedures within the specialties of Orthopaedics. Working closely with anaesthetic colleagues and surgeons, we are a forward-thinking, innovative team who relish a challenge and who are responsive to the needs of the service and the requirements of our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the patient, and those close to them, for their forthcoming surgery, physically, psychologically and through education.
  • Conduct thorough assessment and take appropriate actions to highlight and minimise operative risk, delivering safe outcomes through careful pathway planning.
  • Physically examine the cardiovascular and respiratory systems in defined patients; experience in this area would be a real asset.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Current registration as a nurse (Registered Nurse).
  • Previous surgical experience; ideally with current or recent experience in acute surgical pathways.
  • Experience assessing acutely ill medical patients could be useful.
