He enjoys swimming and going for car journeys; he has very good road knowledge. D acquired a brain injury shortly after birth and as a result has Cerebral Palsy affecting all 4 limbs.
He has a diagnosis of Autism and Asthma and has regular medication for this. He is supported by a Case Manager, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, CAMHS and other Support Workers. He has an electric wheelchair for when he is out in the community and a rollator for short walks.
D has a diagnosis of OCD which affects his daily life in having to do simple tasks perfectly; this can be timely and cause him distress, when D becomes distressed he can become both verbally and physically aggressive to others.
Your role as a Support Worker is to support D with daily living, home education and increasing his independence. He requires assistance with dressing but can feed himself independently. You will be working alongside his support worker who has been with the family for 5 years, as well as 2 other bank support workers who know and understand D s needs and behaviour.
