We’re excited to be expanding our Finance team and are looking for a motivated Accounting Assistant to join us at Howarth Winterbrook, a long‑established, manufacturer supplying key ingredients to the Pet Food, Animal Feed and Food industries across the UK and EU.

The business operates trading companies with physical operations in the UK and Europe, and the holder of the role will play a pivotal role in supporting daily financial operations within the businesses, working closely with all members of the finance team and the trading, operations and logistics teams.
What you’ll be doing:
- Processing supplier invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely payments
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice discrepancies
- Assisting with credit control tasks, including payment chasing and account queries
- Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and other regulatory filings
- Assisting with bank reconciliations and cash allocation
- Assisting with month end journal preparation and reporting
- Assisting in Inventory checks in the operations areas
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and cash planning
- Providing general support to handle finance related queries
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in an accounting or finance administrative role
- Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero or similar)
- AAT Level 2+ (actively studying towards AAT, CIMA or ACCA qualification)
- Experience in manufacturing/stock accounting is desirable but not essential
