Role Overview

In our small but expanding Finance team in Ipswich, the Finance Analyst will have a broad role, participating across both Financial Control and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities. On a monthly basis you will support the Group Controller and Head of FP&A in supporting the month end Workday close process and preparing management, statutory and cash flow reporting.

Outside of the regular reporting cycle, you will play a key role in ensuring that a robust control environment is maintained, including exposure to FCA regulatory requirements, and support of strategic planning activities and cashflow forecasting.

As a private equity backed business with high growth expectations, you will be involved with geographical expansion projects, system design and implementation (e.g. Adaptive Planning).

Key stakeholders are based in both Ipswich and London, and there is an expectation that you would be based in the Ipswich office, with occasional travel to our London Lime Street office to support specific activities or to meet key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Supporting Monthly Financial Accounting
  • Assist with the monthly close processes including preparation and posting of journal entries, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, managing prepayment and accrual processes, reconciling staff costs and expenses
  • Assist in revenue recognition analysis and associated accounting entries for Reinsurance broking income.
  • Assist in the analysis of balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
  • Assist in preparation of statutory financial statements and external audit liaison
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining processes and control documentation
  • Assist in activities supporting FCA regulatory requirements
  • Support ad-hoc financial projects, including geographical expansion, system implementations, banking activities
Supporting Monthly FP&A Reporting
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly management financial reporting
  • Assisting with Headcount Reporting and Management (workforce planning)
  • Assisting with Monthly Project Cost Management
  • Assisting with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
  • Supporting the monthly variance analysis and commentary for board and management reporting.
  • Supporting the process of internal Cost Allocation
  • Collaborating with other departments to gather financial information and respond to queries.
  • Support ad-hoc financial projects, including process improvements and management reporting system enhancements.
Requirements
  • Part-qualified accountant or fully qualified accountant.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative working style.
