Mechanical Design Engineer – Hydraulics & Heavy Steel Fabrication

A long-established manufacturer of bespoke processing and handling machinery is seeking a Design Engineer with strong experience in hydraulics and heavy steel fabrication. This is a hands‑on role designing robust, heavy‑duty equipment for a global customer base.

• Design bespoke machinery with a focus on hydraulic systems (cylinders, power packs, manifolds, pipework)
• Produce 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings (Inventor / AutoCAD)
• Design heavy steel fabrications, frames and welded structures
• Create BOMs and manufacturing documentation
• Support build, testing and commissioning of equipment
• Work closely with fabrication and production teams to ensure practical, manufacturable designs

• Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Strong experience with hydraulics and heavy fabricated steel structures
• Proficient in Inventor (or similar 3D CAD) and AutoCAD
• Experience designing bespoke or special purpose machinery
• Hands‑on, practical approach with strong attention to detail
