Plant Maintenance Engineer – Ipswich, Suffolk
Our client, a multinational cement company, is seeking a Plant Maintenance Engineer to join their busy operation at Ipswich Docks. Responsibilities- Undertake mechanical maintenance work, diagnose mechanical defects and perform breakdown repairs.
- Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Plan mechanical maintenance work daily in consultation with the Assistant Manager.
- Document the completion of maintenance works with the Assistant Manager.
- Supervise additional contractors working on site.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed and that all safety regulations are complied with.
- Level 3 Mechanical qualification in BTEC, City & Guilds or NVQ and certificates.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a mechanical and/or electrical vehicle field.
- Good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Comfortable working in a dusty/dirty environment.
- Full UK Driving Licence with minimal points.
- Hours:
The site operates on a 2/7 schedule, with shifts between 5:00am and 7:00pm. - Salary:
Circa £40,000‑£45,000 per year. - Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays, including a three‑day Christmas shutdown.
- Overtime:
Available, with occasional night work if a ship arrives late. - PPE:
All required protective equipment is provided. - Contract:
Full‑time, permanent, fully on‑site.
