General Music and Choral Teacher. Ipswich, MA is a small town on the North Shore with strong support for music and fine art education. The Winthrop School is looking for a long‑term substitute music teacher specializing in pre‑K‑5 general music and chorus to cover a temporary leave of absence.
Anticipated Dates of Employment: April 27 - June 23, 2026
The Ipswich Public Schools are seeking a long-term music substitute for an anticipated leave of absence. The music substitute teacher will:
- Effectively plan for, and teach 40‑minute weekly general music classes to students.
- Be familiarized with Conversational Solfege, Orff, and Gordon Music Learning Theory.
- Explore the fundamentals of reading music, music history, movement, singing, improvising, and composing. Boom whackers and ukuleles are available for enhancement of the curriculum.
The music teacher will teach two 40‑minute chorus classes each week; one of the entire fourth‑grade, and one of the entire fifth‑grade.
The music teacher will collaborate on large group performances, scheduled during the school day as well as in the evening. The following performances are part of the curriculum:
- May: grade‑level performances/contributions during the Memorial Day Assembly
