Position: Building-Based Substitute

Hours: Full school day, Monday–Friday (on days school is in session)

Reports to: Building Principal

About the Position: Ipswich Public Schools is seeking a dependable and flexible Building-Based Substitute to join our team. This individual will work in one assigned school building each day, filling in for teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff as needed. When not covering a classroom, the Building-Based Substitute will support students and staff in various capacities throughout the school.

• Provide daily classroom coverage in the absence of the regular teacher or paraprofessional.
• Deliver lesson plans and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Support students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
• Assist with supervision duties (e.g., hallways, lunch, recess) as assigned.
• Collaborate with building staff to support instructional and non-instructional activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of classroom environments and grade levels.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a collaborative mindset.

• $120.00 per day
• Eligible for participation in district benefits
